Say there is a country which for convenience I will call Latvia. This country has no working factories, it produces nothing, doesn`t gain enough foreign investments, its tourism industry isn`t able to feed the country and the dudes who are responsible for planning the financial situation in advance are not really interested in anything but their wallets (or to be precise - bank balances). So after a short period of supposed growth because of joining some international organization which I will call EU there comes a rather unpleasant decline and living in this country gets tougher, unemployment grows and other problems arise. In the worst-case scenario this country even goes bankrupt (as it happened not such a long time ago to a country which I will call here Argentine).
The scenario described in the previous paragraph makes total sense to me. If you live above your income it is quite possible that one day your creditors will come with metal rods in their hands and kick the shit out of you.
But what on earth is a global economic crisis? How can such a situation be that nearly every country in the world is in shit? Where does all the money go in that case? As far as I understand, matter doesn`t just disappear spontaneously. And there can not be a situation where everyone is in debt. There should be someone who isn`t because otherwise it doesn`t make any sense. I get a feeling that something should be fishy in peculiar situations like this. There should be people who shake the boat in order to throw others overboard.
What do I want to express with this blog entry? Mostly - that something is fundamentally wrong with the system of distribution of wealth and resources on this little planet of ours.

P.S. This morning when I cycled to work there was a very dense fog over Daugava. It was so dense that from the top of the bridge it was difficult to see the water underneath. Par velo ķiverēm. Vēl līdz pavisam nesenam laikam (proti - apmēram šī gada augustam) manī valdīja nepārprotama pārliecība, ka ar velosipēdu braucot ķiveres velk vien gatavie sprukstiņi un jefiņi. Kā teikt - panki dirsu neslauka. Bet tad Lienčai uz vārdadienu Kipeloff un Striped uzdāvināja velo ķiveri. Lienča, jāatzīst, nav tā aktīvākā velo braucēja, ko man nācies redzēt, līdz ar to viņai ķiverei pielietojums nesanāca gluži grandiozs. Taču kādu vakaru mēs kopā aizbraucām uz Jūrmalu, un apmēram pusceļā Lienčai apnika braukt ar ķiveri galvā un tā tika nodota man. Kopš tās dienas es ar riteni bez ķiveres gandrīz nekad nebraucu. Man nav nekāda baisā stāsta par to kā ķivere izglāba manu dzīvību vai kā es redzēju kādu notriektu velosipēdistu, kuru ķivere būtu paglābusi, bet tās trūkuma dēļ viņa smadzenes izšķīda pa visu Krišjāņa Barona ielu (posmā no LNB galvenās ēkas līdz pat vietai, kur vēl nesen bija Sporta Pils). Es vienkārši sāku braukt ar ķiveri galvā un man iepatikās, tādā mērā, ka tagad braucot bez ķiveres es jūtos gandrīz vai kails.
Vai es būtu guvis kādu mācību? Vai šim ierakstam ir morāle, kas vēstī - tev būs ķiveri lietot? Nē. Ne katrs stāsts ir pamācošs (un interesants), bet šis ir MANS stāsts, un tieši šodien man gribējās TEV to izstāstīt. DI-NA-MO RĪGA!]]> http://dullais.sapnis.com/radi.php?id=889 What I was positively surprised about was the fact that from our "low-budget" seats visibility was very good. Yes, we sat behind one of the goals, however it was not a problem. What I also liked was the atmosphere in the arena, Latvian ice-hockey fans certainly know how to support their team. And I liked the result.
There is no doubt that Dynamo Moscow is the better of the two teams. And there is no doubt even that it deserved to win more than their Riga namesakes yesterday. However - they did not, and it was entirely their own fault. Meanwhile the Riga side utilised almost every scoring chance they had.
What Dynamo Riga needs is one more scoring line. The power trio Hossa - Hartigan - Ellison is good. However it is not enough in the long run. And for Latvian hockey in general it would be very important to have at least a few goal-scoring Latvian in its top club. I for one would be really happy if they could get either Sprukts or Karsums (or at least Daugaviņš) playing with Dynamo. Their chances in the NHL are slim and the Kontintental Hockey League is certainly a more perspective tournament than the AHL, so it would do good if some of our "americans" would return.
