Greetings comrade,

Description update: December 2008
Raimo K

as I see you've landed on the "about" page fn my website. So you're probably interested in facts and figures - what's this site about, who's running it and for what reasons, how many visitors does it have etc. I won't promise to answer all of your possible questions (as I don't intend to put up a form for you can send your questions in) but I will provide some basic info you may find useful (or not).

You've probably noticed that the most part of this webpage is not in English. "What kind of monkey language is that?" you're probably asking yourself. It's Latvian, the language which is spoken quite a lot in the country where I live - Latvia. And being a true patriot of my homeland (or not), I have no other choice than to write in Latvian 99% of my blog entries. Especially considering that one can be punished by death for writing too much in a foreign language in Latvia. Especially after the bloody machete-fighting of 2003 which started because of an Internet rumour. Ok, cut the previous sentences - those are not necessarily true. Anyway, I write in Latvian for the following reasons:

  1. It's easier for me to express my thoughts
  2. I'm lazy
  3. So are some of my readers (not that there are many)
  4. There's zilch of information on tons of good films and books in Latvian, and I'm doing my best on expanding the amount of useful information on the Latvian hemesphere of the World Wide web
  5. Some othe reasons that I can't think of at the moment.

Who am I? My first name is Raymond, last name Jacquet. According to my psychological portrait I'm an addict (although I'm an addict to actions and not to substances). I can get addicted to absolutely all kinds of ridiculous kinds of entertainment, and if I'm in - there's no stopping me. Also I like offending people.

I've been having this website in different forms since... way back, probably the year 2001. At first it was offline all the time though (if I remember correctly). Former addresses among others included: http://kazhe.times.lv, http://fiksas.idejas.com:8080 (yes - with a very nice port address at the end), http://80.249.194.4 (my old IP address at home) and for a while now I've been a web-couchsurfer under N.R. The factoid part (the one where I write about books and stuff like that) has an archive up to December 2003. Due to one moronic error the weblog archive runs back only up to february 2005.
